The Aortic Balloon Trainer

REBOA-Sim

A guided, live-physiology trainer for resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta. You make your call first; a coach then shows the phase objective and the next right move; you titrate the balloon to a distal target, sample above vs below the balloon, and survive the reperfusion storm — with a question at every decision point.

Exam / Unguided
Phase shown, but no next-move hints. Prove you can drive it. Graded.
Anesthesia
Role lens: titration, labs, reperfusion kit, deflation communication
Surgeon
Role lens: chest clearance, access, zone, inflate, control
Medic / nurse
Role lens: equipment, documentation, insertion distance, handoff
The role lens only changes which prompts are worded in the first person; every role sees the same case and answers the same questions.
Training tool — not a substitute for clinical judgment, the JTS CPG, or local protocol.
Vitals/labs are an illustrative physiologic model built to teach direction of change and decision reflexes, not validated setpoints. Targets, zone times, and reperfusion kinetics follow JTS CPG ID 38 v1.4, the Nguyen 2025 Shock Delphi consensus, and the partial-REBOA literature (Abid 2020 · Forte 2019/2020 · Davidson 2017 · Sadeghi/Hurtsén 2021 · Marble 2022).

Running advances time; any decision pauses it. Hemorrhage, ischemia, transfusion, and reperfusion all play out on the clock. The coach lane above always tells you your phase and next move.
